Audrey Bartzsch
Audrey (any pronouns) is in their third year of the Business Administration program
here at BCC. They took the Advanced Composition and Tutor Training course in the spring
of 2022 and have been working in the Writing Center for two semesters. Outside of
school and work, Audrey enjoys pursuing creative projects like fiber arts, including
sewing her own clothes and knitting, as well as drawing, reading, music, and creative
writing.
Mercedes Bell
Mercedes (she/her) is beginning her third year here at Berkshire Community College.
Having completed her prerequisites, she's planning on exploring electives that relate
to her passion for history, psychology, and literature this school year before hoping
to enter the ADN program in the fall of 2024. She waited a decade before getting her
GED, choosing a new path, and going back to school, so she has a great appreciation
for the balancing act most of her fellow students must manage in pursuit of their
own goals. She is excited to be able to play an active part in supporting her fellow
students to the best of her abilities in her new role as a member of the Writing Center
team this fall.
Leo Honbarger
Leo (he/him) has been working in writing centers since 2022. He has a bachelor’s degree
in English from the University of Tennessee, where he worked as an award-winning writing
tutor before joining BCC. His poetry has appeared in Glass Mountain Review. He is
excited to return to the Writing Center as a consultant and liaison. When he is not
supporting student writing, you can find him crocheting and enjoying all the nature
that the Berkshires have to offer.
G Kelley
G Kelley (they/them) is a community writing center consultant. They graduated from
BCC in 2020 with an Associates in Theatre Arts, and were a tutor in the writing center
as a student. One of their favourite things about working in the writing center, especially
at BCC, is working with students of all ages and levels of writing. They are passionate
about storytelling, inclusion, and accessibility.
Nell McCabe
Nell teaches composition, literature, and creative writing at Berkshire Community
College. An alum of BCC, she holds a master’s degree in Creative Writing-Fiction from
the University of Missouri-Columbia. In 2015, she co-founded the BCC Writing Center
along with her colleague Matthew Muller and is delighted to be back keeping things
afloat while Writing Center Coordinator, Liesl Schwabe, is away during the 2024-2025
academic year.
Liesl Schwabe
Liesl (she/her) joined BCC last year as the Coordinator of Writing Across the Curriculum.
She previously directed the Writing Program at Yeshiva College and served as a Fulbright-Nehru
Scholar in Kolkata, India. Liesl's essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Review of Books and other publications and anthologies. She loves how the Writing Center creates
energy, fosters community, and deepens the exchange of ideas, on campus and beyond.
Mackenzie Soto
Mackenzie (she/they) is 24 years old and a recent graduate of BCC. She has worked
in the Writing Center for about four years. Her hobbies include writing, reading,
crafting and cooking.
Destiny Tetlow
"My name is Destiny and it is my first year tutoring at the Writing Center. I’m in
my second year at BCC and am pursuing a degree in Music Education. Outside of studying
and work I play in a band and spend most of my time reading or painting. I look forward
to working at the Writing Center!"
