BCC Employment Opportunities for Students

The Career Services and Experiential Learning team offers student employment opportunities in the forms of work-study and on-campus job opportunities.

  • Work study provides part-time jobs so students can earn while they learn. Paychecks can be used to cover living expenses while enrolled. The added benefit of this program is the opportunity for you to gain work experience and references.
  • On-campus job opportunities are available to students who qualify through the Human Resources job postings board.

Work-Study Positions Available

Federal Work-Study provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student's course of study. It's available to eligible full-time or part-time students. Students eligible for work-study will have completed the FAFSA, are taking at least six credits during the semester, are actively participating in their classes, and are making satisfactory progress (SAP). Students cannot work during class time but can split their available hours between two or more departments.

How Much Can I Earn?

Students earn approximately $1,000 for the semester, this equates to about 5-8 hours per week. (Students may work more or less hours in any given week as long as the total hours for a semester do not exceed the amount of their award.)

The specifics of the days and times for each position are indicated in the job description or worked out directly with the position's supervisor. Most on-campus jobs will be Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Hours for Off-Campus jobs, if known, are included in each job description.
