The BCC pool will reopen Saturday, June 20, 2026!

Welcome to the Paterson Recreation Pool
Paterson Recreation's pool is 25 yards long and ranges from 3.5 to 8 feet in depth.
The facility is handicapped accessible and lifeguards are on duty during all pool
operating hours. Lockers rooms, day lockers and showers are also available.
Swimming Pool Daily Rates, Memberships and Rentals
Daily Rates
- BCC students and employees (with valid BCC ID): Free!
- Individuals: $7
- Families (four to six members): $25 daily
Seasonal Rates
- Individuals: Pool is included with monthly membership to the Paterson Field House
- Families up to five: $200
- Families of six or more (maximum of eight): $250
2026 Season
Dates: June 20 – Aug. 29, 2026
- Monday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Sunday: 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
*Note: The pool is shared with the YMCA from 11 a.m. – noon and 1 – 3:45 p.m., Monday –
Friday. There are a minimum of two lanes open for the public.
Pool Rules
- No one is allowed in the pool without a lifeguard
- All patrons must take a cleansing shower before entering the pool
- Any persons having an infectious or communicable diseases are prohibited from using
the pool
- Absolutely no diving in the shallow end
- Appropriate swim attire is required
- No sitting or hanging on the lane lines
- No horseplay allowed
- A cap is recommended for shoulder length hair
- No food or gum is allowed on the pool deck (concrete walk around pool)
- No disposable diapers allowed in the pool
- "Water Wings" are prohibited; must be Coast Guard Approved PFDs
- Spitting pool water or discharging bodily waste is prohibited
- In the event of an emergency, you will be asked to clear the pool immediately and
follow the instructions given to you
- All swimmers under the age of 13 are required to take a swim test

- U.S. Coast Guard approved PFD (lifejacket)
- U.S. Coast Guard approved PFD (puddle jumpers)
- Pool noodles
- Diving sticks and rings
- Small toys
Not allowed floatation devices, pool toys and equipment:
- Inflatable loungers/back floats
- Inflatable rings and tubes Infant pool floats/seats
- Arm floats and water wings
- Mermaid tails and monofins
- Full-face snorkels
- Water guns and noodle guns
- Boogie boards and wave riders
Pool Parties and Events
For inquiries about renting the pool, complete the form and a Paterson Recreation team member will contact you within one business day.
- Groups of 11 or fewer: $60
- Groups of 12 to 20: $80
- Groups of 20 to 30: $130
Swim Clinics
Learn tips, drills, and techniques for how to swim faster and more efficiently. If
you want to learn more about your strokes, this is the clinic for you! The clinic
will include 30-45 minutes on on-deck instruction, followed by about two hours in
the water working on stroke mechanics and drills.
Experience swim Coach Chris Colburn leads a couple of stroke clinics for high schoolers
and master's swimmers each summer. Check back in Spring 2026 for next year's dates.
Swim Tests
Swim Tests are to be given to any swimmer under the age of 13 or when patrons swimming
ability is unsafe.
Green Swim Band Expectations: May go anywhere in the pool Tread water for one (1) minute with ears and face above
the water. Jump into water that is over the individual’s head and return to the surface.
Swim the length of the pool unassisted using front crawl or breaststroke with confident
breaths. Exit the pool without assistance and jump back in.
Yellow Swim Band Expectations: Unless meets Green Expectations See below age expectations. Must stand comfortably,
at armpit level and flat footed, in the entire shallow water swim zone. Must enter
pool from shallow end swim entire length of shallow end. Pull themselves from the
pool and jump back in. May not enter deep water swim zone.
Red Swim Band Expectations: Unless meets Green or Yellow Expectations 0-6 years old. Must be always within arm’s
reach in the water of an active parent/caregiver. Must always wear a life jacket.
Not allowed in deep end. Swimming bubbles (only allowed during supervised swim lessons)
not allowed. Unable to meet the green or yellow wristband requirements.
